Add a DVD Player player to your system to enjoy your favorite movie and sound discs. A relatively inexpensive addition and available in single or 5-disc changers. For the ultimate and newest movie technology, consider a Blu-ray for the highest solution picture with 5 / 7 channel sound. Unfortunately, standard DVD discs do not play on the new Blu-rays so you will need a standard DVD Player for your old discs. Here are our recommendations:
This player has all the latest features for high quality sound and picture. Provides full HDMI interface for ease of connection and processing quality. Must have for watching movies.
Top class 5-disc changer incorporating all the latest technologies with full HDMI connections. Our recommended upgrade if you need a 5-disc capability.
Top teir. The S1800 offers extremely high video and audio quality and is the choice on high-end systems.
The latest must have component is the Blu-ray player; you will enjoy the highest resolution picture and 7-channel sound to take full advantage of your new HD TV and Home Theater sound system. As of this posting (April 2008), the former competing HD DVD format has been discontinued by Toshiba and the remaining movie studios are switching to Blu-ray. If you still need the HD DVD player, they are available for $89.99 or less online.
Note: Not all manufacutrers have switched to producing the Blu-ray so you will see limited brands in the stores. We expect Yamaha, our favorite, to have their Blu-ray by year end. Blu-ray sets the standards for licensing other manufacturers so features and quality is essentially the same on all models. We selected the following Blu-ray models based on price.
All the standard play features with the clearest possibile picture details. Full HDMI connections.
Same for Sylvania. All the standard play features with the clearest possibile picture details. Full HDMI connections. Lowest price we have seen anywhere.
